Very sad news. The former President of the International Association for Semiotic Studies Roland Posner (1942–2020) has died.
Richard L. Lanigan writes:
The first generation of Semioticians is passing quickly these days! I worked with Posner over many years. In good German fashion, he was always correcting my English and I (as a good loud-mouthed American) was doing the same for his German! Some years ago (while teaching together in Poland) we discovered we had an important date in common in May of 1974. He came to the Technical University of Berlin to become Director of the Semiotics Institute, and, I was in town at the First World Congress of Communication Science (where the first Communicology group was formed). We never met then despite just being a few blocks away from each other.
